Alberta Louise Green Echols

Surrounded by her beloved family, Alberta Louise Green Echols, 86, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2019.

Alberta was born August 6, 1932 on the family farm in Breckinridge, Oklahoma to Albert and Erma Green. She attended a one-room elementary school, Prairie Valley, until the eighth grade. She then attended Garber High School, graduating in 1950. After working for a year as a long-distance operator for Southwestern Bell, she began her dream to become a teacher, attending Central State University.

Upon completion of her Bachelor of Education, Alberta taught at Blackwell, Ponca City, and then Edmond where she met her husband, Milton Dale Echols. In 1971, Alberta and Dale moved with their three children to Hominy, Oklahoma. Alberta taught physical education, business machines, shorthand, accounting, and typing. She often sponsored cheerleaders, pep club, and classes - making floats, and decorating for proms. She loved her students as her own and was their biggest supporter and cheerleader. She was a true Hominy Buck.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hominy. She enjoyed her women's bible study, Sunday school class, singing hymns, and was also the Vacation Bible School director for several years. Alberta loved life, her family, her students, and her town. She was often seen laughing, joking, and mostly giving hugs.

Alberta was preceded in death by her mother and father, Erma and Albert Green; her in-laws Thomas and Ruby Echols; one sister Betty Johnson; her brother Kenneth Green and his wife Bea; brothers-in-law Paul Mitts and Don Kincaid; her sister-in-law Pat Taylor and her husband Tom; two nephews Kenneth Jr. and Tim Green; daughter in-law Shona Mount Echols.
